It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing whatsoever," said Healy.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
